If we have some knowledge on networking we may find this utility very interesting as with it we can see all the network traffic that our computer may be sending or receiving with all other computers in the web in a very comprehensive way.
SmartSniff is an utility that can be used to see in a comprehensive way data that goes through our network card, that includes some text based protocols like http, smtp, pop3, ftp or non-text based protocols like DNS.
SmartSniff provides 3 different methods of capturing the network traffic. The first one is by raw sockets, this method doesn’t require to install a capture driver for our network card, but is has come limitations.
Other methods are the WinPcap Capture Driver that install the driver for monitoring and has much more options and the Microsoft Network Monitor Driver. This software is compatible with all Windows systems that support the methods mentioned.
