Disabling “Removable Drive Scan & Fix” prompt in Windows 7

Tired of that annoying screen asking you to fix your already fixed drive? I am, and after messing with some of the services, I reach the one with the problem.

prompt

  1. Open the run prompt and type “services.msc” without the quotes
  2. Search for “Shell Hardware Detection” and disable it
  3. Log off or restart and that’s it.

Remember that by disabling that, you’ll also be disabling the prompt asking you what to do with the new device and disabling the Windows Image Acquisition service. But if that removes the prompt, totally worth it.
