Disable “Windows Help and Support” in Windows 7

A nice thing about Windows XP that 7 doesn’t have is that you can disable Windows Help and Support very easily, but in 7 you can’t because Windows doesn’t provide that feature or option. In my case, I use a lot the Escape and F2 buttons, so you should guess how often the F1 button get pressed.

Anyway, I found a way to disable it very easily and permanently. First of all, download Unlocker and install it. Then go to the Windows folder (usually ”C:\Windows\”).

Now, look for these two files: HelpPane.exe and winhlp32.exe.

windows help

Select them and then open Unlocker trough the context menu, and select “Move”, move them to your desktop.

move

The files should now be in your desktop, and the F1 button won’t do nothing, no matter how many times you hit it.

help You can delete, backup or rename those files. Anyway, help won’t be displayed until those two are back in the Windows folder.
