One of the new Firefox’s feature is the hiding of the HTTP on the address bar. This is an old one in Chrome, so I’m really used to it, but to Firefox users this is a new feature that they won’t like that much. In any case, you can return this change really easy.

First, (1) go to about:config and (2) search for “browser.urlbar.trimURLs”. (3)Then just change the value to false.

Is one of the most easiest tricks to modify Firefox. The changes are activated immediately, you don’t even need to restart the browser see them. But remember, when you’re in the about:config page, be careful.

First of all, it adds the HD option inside the player to switch to HD (if possible). Also, the Share on Twitter and Facebook inside as well to make sharing more easy.

The best thing about this player is that also works as an HTML5 player, so if your don’t have Flash installed, you can still watch any video with it without any problem. The bad thing is that this player seems to eat more resources that the YouTube player, so if you’re using an old machine, using this one is not your best choice.

Remember that to use it in Firefox, you’ll need Greasemonkey.

Show File Size2 is a Firefox extension that provides a simple but needed feature to Firefox, show the size of the file you’re about to download. There is no extra customization or options to work with, just that simple feature that will work every single time.

And the best thing is that is compatible with a lot versions, it goes from Firefox 3.5 to Firefox 7.*.

So today I will post about G+ and three cool stuff about it. First is this script to disable the notifications. Although there is an extension to do this, I prefer a script because it doesn’t need a different process to work and still have the same goal.

Google+ Notifications Blocker is a simple script created to block G+ notifications area from all Google services. This is made to avoid distractions while working since Google services are used a lot and getting a notification for a post you made or something you commented can cause a serious chain of distraction which can lead to some productivity issues at work.

Remember that to install it in Firefox your need to install GreaseMonkey first and then install the script. In case of using Chrome, you can install it directly without the need of an extension.

Yes, well, one of the worst things about Firefox is the excessive memory usage, but this all will be a thing of the past since from the release of Firefox 7 memory usage will be highly reduced, between 30% and 40%. That screenshot above shows Firefox 5 and 7 with only the home page open and no extensions.

Of course, we can also see a reduction in Firefox 6, is very similar to Firefox 7, if not the same. Don’t worry, Firefox 6 will be released on August 11, that day, a lot of new stuff will come to Firefox that will make it a way better browser.

If you want to try it out now, you can download Firefox 6 from here and Firefox 7 from here.

Mozilla is trying to keep up with they’re schedule by released the Firefox versions in the time they say they would, and that’s why this new version has been released.

Is quite new and it has some new features and improvements:

The address bar now highlights the domain of the website you’re visiting

Streamlined the look of the site identity block

Added support for EventSource / server-sent events

Added Scratchpad, an interactive JavaScript prototyping environment

New Web Developer menu item and moved development-related items into it

Improved usability of the Web Console

Improved the discoverability of Firefox Sync

Reduced browser startup time when using Panorama

And many, many bugs fixed…

Other than that, is the same old reliable browser, and you can download it from here.

About Startup is a Firefox extension that adds an extra about page, about:startup, in which we check our browser’s time to launch. Three times will be measure (will appear in milliseconds):

main: Firefox main function is entered

sessionRestored: the tabs from the previous session have been created (not loaded)

firstPaint: time that the UI loads

The extension is pretty light and useful since knowing the time it takes our browser to load is very important and it can help us decided if we want to restart the browser or not. Also, is a good way to know which configuration can make your startup faster or just to compare it with other people.
